Cvetkovic: My boys deserved gold

TEHRAN, Sept. 12 (MNA) -- Jovica Cvetkovic said on Saturday that his team deserved to win the title of the 2009 FIVB Boys’ Championship.

Iran lost to Serbia 3-2 last week and failed to defend its championship.
“In my opinion, my boys are gold medalists. They were too tired both physically and mentally in the final game against Serbia. They were under pressure because the people wanted another title from them,” said Cvetkovic.
“You cannot always win. In sports, you lose sometimes and this is normal. We were a good team and that is important. We could have lost to any other team in the final match because it is different from any other match,” he stated.
“Iran, Serbia, Russia and Argentina were the tournament’s best four teams. They were not that different, yet I believe Iran deserved the title,” the Serb added.
His future in the team remains unclear. Cvetkovic said, “My contract will run until March 2010. I don’t know anything about the future. Let's see what happens.”
